Cleveland, OH-After a 2-0 week at home including a convincing win over defending league champion Oakland on Thursday night, the Cleveland State men's basketball team swept the league's weekly awards which were announced today.
Tevin Smith took home the Player of the Week Award and
Je'Shawn Stevenson was named Freshman of the Week for the third consecutive week.

Smith had a huge week continuing his strong play throughout the early part of the season. He registered a career-high 37 points on 63 percent shooting from the field against Oakland. The 37 points as well as 14 made field goals are the most by a Horizon League student-athlete in a regular season game so far this season.

Smith recorded 11 points in the win over Midway on Sunday in just 16 minutes of action. Overall for the week he averaged 24 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. Smith also finished a perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line in the two games combined. He has scored in double figures in seven consecutive games.

Stevenson picks up Freshman of the Week honors after setting a new career best in Sunday's game against Midway. Stevenson tallied 23 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field and made all five of his attempts from the free throw line.

Stevenson added two rebounds, four assists, a block and a steal to his stat line on Sunday. This is the second time Stevenson has scored 20 or more points in a game in his young career and the sixth time he has finished in double figures.

Smith earns his first league weekly award and Stevenson picks up his third. Cleveland State has totaled four league weekly awards on the season.

The Vikings have won four consecutive games and will look to build upon that streak later this week. Following a short holiday break, Cleveland State returns to the court for a matchup with Wright State on Sunday. The Vikings and Raiders will tip at 3:00 p.m. following the women's game against Milwaukee scheduled for noon.
