Ann Arbor, MI-The Cleveland State men's basketball team fell in its regular season opener at the University of Michigan by a final score of 101-53. Michigan controlled the game from the outset and the Vikings could not overcome a pour shooting night and 21 turnovers in the opening regular season game for both teams.
Four players finished with seven points each to lead the way for CSU.
Isaac Abidde,
Dylan Arnett,
Je'Shawn Stevenson and
Ebrima Dibba each chipped in seven apiece. Arnett recorded ten rebounds, five of which came on the offensive end. Arnett recorded his third career double-digit rebounding game and finished two shy of a career high.
Cleveland State shot just 30 percent from the field and finished 2-19 from three-point range. Abidde and
Tahj Staveskie each recorded one three-point make. The Wolverines finished at 68 percent from the field including a 70 percent clip in the first half which opened up a 54-26 lead for the home team at the halftime break.
Cleveland State scored the first basket of the second half on a
Tevin Smith jump shot, but the Vikings could not draw closer as the game progressed.
Cleveland State returns home to the Wolstein Center to play host to Baldwin Wallace on Wednesday night. The game will be a 7:00 p.m. tip and will be broadcast on ESPN+ as well as Real 106.1 FM.
