NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Cleveland State women's basketball team opened the Big Easy Classic Friday, picking up a 60-42 victory over Louisiana. With the win, the Vikings are now 4-2 on the young season.

Macey Fegan earned a spot in the starting lineup for the first time of her Cleveland State career, finishing with three points, three assists and one steal in 26 minutes of action.
-Friday's game marked the third time this season that the Vikings shot 50-percent or better from the floor.
-Cleveland State's 15 assists marked the fifth straight game with double-digit assists.
The Game
After a slow start to the game, the Vikings were able to gain a 4-0 lead following back-to-back
Mickayla Perdue baskets, while a pair of
Destiny Leo three-pointers a few minutes later put the Vikings up 10-3 with 3:19 left in the first quarter.
Cleveland State added to its lead with another Perdue layup then, while a
Paulina Hernandez basket on the next Viking possession gave the Vikings a 14-3 advantage late in the first quarter.
After taking a 14-5 lead into the second quarter, the Vikings used an 8-4 run over the opening minutes of the second frame to extend their lead to 22-9 midway through the quarter, before heading into the halftime break up by 13 points at 28-15.
Cleveland State carried its momentum into the third quarter then, including a 15-0 run over the final 6:16 to take a 47-24 advantage into the final 10 minutes of play. Five points during this 15-point stretch came from
Grace Ellis who tallied a three-pointer followed by a layup as time expired in the frame.
The Vikings were then able to hold off a fourth quarter run from Louisiana, holding a 20-point advantage for the majority of the quarter, before closing out the 60-42 victory.
