INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Cleveland State track & field team opened competition at the IUPUI Invite Friday, led by four top-five finishes from Grace Frye, Madelynn Madison, Ana Crangle, and Natalie Keller.
"Today was a great team effort across the board, and I'm excited for day two of competition," head coach Jason Hudson said. "Grace continues to improve with each meet as she works on her technical model, while he had a very strong showing in 5K. Today was a great indicator of how we our training is going and I know that we will be peaking at the right time for the league championship coming up next month."
Madison, Crangle and Keller all notched their top-five finishes in the 5000 Meter Run, paced by Madison who finished second with a lifetime personal-best time of 18:31.13. Crangle placed third overall with a time of 18:36.09, while Keller finished fourth in 18:41.99.
Frye posted a mark of 16.55 to finish third in the Weight Throw, bettering her previous school record of 16.52 that she set last week.
In addition, Jillian McArdle competed in the Pentathlon for the first time this season, placing 13th overall with 2,330 points. McArdle's best finish came in the Long Jump, where she placed ninth with a mark of 4.76.
Cleveland State will wrap up action at the IUPUI Invite tomorrow.
