YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The Cleveland State track & field team returned to action Friday, participating in the YSU Collegiate Invite.
Cleveland State's top finishes came from Grace Frye in the field events, as she posted a pair of top-three finishes in the Shot Put and Weight Throw. Frye finished second in the Weight Throw with a mark of 16.52, while she placed third in the Shot Put with a distance of 12.97 - both of which marked school records.
In addition to Frye, Ivana Babic and Landry Driskel also notched top-10 finishes in field events for the Vikings, Babic with an eighth place showing in the High Jump (1.52) and Driskel with a ninth place finish in the Shot Put (11.06).
Tilly Nasende tallied Cleveland State's top sprint finishes on Friday, as she notched a pair of seventh place finishes in the 200 (25.82) and 400 (59.26), with her 400 time marking a lifetime best in the event.
In distance events, Madelynn Madison paced the Vikings with a seventh place showing in the 3000, posting a college-best time of 10:35.43.
The Cleveland State quartet of Nasende, Madison Morris, Ky'Renae Matlock, and Melinda Brown posted a time of 4:12.34 in the 4x400, shaving eight seconds off the previous top time to finish fifth overall.
The Vikings will continue their indoor campaign next weekend, taking part in the IUPUI Invite on Friday, January 26 and Saturday, January 27.
