FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Cleveland State track & field team had a strong showing at the Mastodon Invitational Saturday, highlighted by a pair of top-five finishes from Dynesty Ervin and Jillian McArdle.
"This was a nice tune-up meet for us to compete in the same facility that will host the Horizon League Indoor Championships in late February, and I think we took advantage of that and posted some strong finishes with Dynesty in the 400 and Jillian in the long jump," head coach Jason Hudson said. "We still have a lot of work to do to get ready for the league meet, but I am confident that we will be healthy and ready to go in late February.
Cleveland State's two top-five finishes came from Ervin in the 400 and McArdle in the Long Jump, as Ervin placed second overall with a time of 1:01.06 and McArdle finished fourth with a mark of 4.87.
In addition, the Vikings recorded three other top-10 individual finishes, including two in the 200 Meter Dash from Madison Morris (9th – 28.16) and McArdle (10th – 28.30). Karly Klaer also posted a top-10 finish, placing ninth in the Shot Put with a mark of 11.64.
Cleveland State's 4x400 Meter Relay team of Ariana Coats, Madeline Crissman, Madelynn Madison, and Tara Will also placed eighth with a time of 4:46.16.
The Vikings will close out the month of January at the Hillsdale Wide Track Invite next weekend, with action taking place on Saturday, January 28.
