YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Cleveland State track & field team opened up the 2021 Horizon League Outdoor Championships Friday, competing in the 1500 Meter Run prelims and Javelin finals.

Competing in her first meet of the season – indoor or outdoor – Julianne Dorothal paced the Vikings with a sixth place finish in the Javelin. Dorothal earned Cleveland State's first podium finish of the weekend with a mark of 33.78, the fourth best mark in program history.

The Vikings had two runners in the 1500 Meter Run prelims on Friday, with Shannon Wargo crossing the finish line in a time of 5:16.07 and Grace Holmes finishing in 5:25.04.

Action at the 2021 #HLTF Outdoor Championships continues tomorrow, with field events beginning at 12:00 p.m. and running events slated to start at 4:00 p.m.
