FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Cleveland State track & field team continued its 2021 indoor campaign Friday, recording six top-five finishes – including a first place finish from Dynesty Ervin in the 60 Meter Dash – at the Second Mastodon Invitational.
After finishing with a career-best time of 7.95 in the 60 Meter Dash Prelims, Ervin followed that up with a time of 7.99 in the finals to post Cleveland State's first individual win of the 2021 campaign. Ervin also recorded a third place finish in the 200 Meter Dash, posting a time of 26.46.
Zoe Dellaserra, who was running in her first collegiate track meet, finished right behind Ervin in the 60 Meter Dash Finals, as she placed third overall with a time of 8.08.
Margaret Smith posted Cleveland State's third top-five finish in track events on Friday, as she posted a time of 2:21.94 in the 800 Meter Run to finish third.
The Vikings also posted a pair of second place finishes in field events at the Mastodon Invitational, with Kaelin Stahl recording a mark of 3.35 in the Pole Vault, and Kamryn Sharer posting a mark of 12.67 in the Shot Put. Sharer's mark was a personal-best, while it also marked a CSU Record.
Shannon Wargo was also competing for the first time in a Viking uniform on Friday, as she posted a time of 2:38.62 in the 800 Meter Run.
Cleveland State will return to action at the Hillsdale Tune-Up next Saturday (February 20).
