Cleveland State Women's Soccer Falls in Horizon League Quarterfinals

GREEN BAY, Wisc. – Cleveland State fell in the Horizon League quarterfinals on Sunday afternoon at Green Bay, 4-0. The Vikings conclude the 2021 season with a 6-11-2 overall record and 5-5-1 Horizon League record.

THE GAME
Green Bay snapped the Vikings four-game shutout streak in the ninth minute with an unassisted goal to the lower-left corner by Emily Murphy. The Phoenix made it 2-0 in the 34th minute as McKayla Kertscher headed in a corner by Madeline Cruz. Four minutes later, Murphy netted her second goal of the game on a 35-yard free-kick as the Vikings trailed 3-0 at the half.

The lone tally of the second half came in the 78th minute as Hannah Bennett scored off an assist from Kertscher as Green Bay won the quarterfinal game, 4-0.

Cleveland State doubled up the home team in the shots category, 20-10. Each team put six shots on target.

McKenna Donahue paced the Vikings with a game-best seven shots. Kyla Valaitis made two saves on the afternoon.
