After dropping the first set, the Vikings stormed back to gain control of the match and earn convincing victories in the final three sets.

During the second frame, the Vikings got out to an early 10-4 lead on a Madalynn Butler kill, and then extended their advantage to 16-10 after a YSU error. The Vikings were then able to post four of the final five points of the frame, gaining the 25-16 victory on an Ainslie McLaughlin kill.

The third set was much of the same, as Cleveland State gained an early 11-5 lead following a Kesling service ace and Miller kill, and then extended its lead to 19-7 following a Penguin error. During the fourth and final frame the Vikings were able to distance themselves midway through the set, earning a 15-10 lead following a YSU error. The Vikings then controlled play throughout the remainder of the set, closing out the 25-19 victory with a Lydia Latimer kill for the 3-1 match victory.
