YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Cleveland State track & field team opened up its indoor season Friday afternoon, competing at the YSU Invitational. 

Friday's meet marked the first competition for the Vikings in 319 days, as they were last in action at the 2020 Horizon League Indoor Championship on March 1, 2020.

Cleveland State recorded a pair of top-five finishes on Friday, as Hannah Korte placed fourth in the 5000 Meter Run (19:48.07) and Margaret Smith finished fifth in the 800 Meter Run (2:26.04).

Freshman Savannah Shaver made her collegiate debut at the YSU Invitational, finishing ninth for the Vikings in the Mile Run with a time of 5:47.59.

The entire Cleveland State team will return to action at the Mastodon Invitational next Saturday (January 23).
