A LOOK AT WHAT'S HAPPENING
Men's Basketball
• The Vikings open the season this week, hosting Tiffin at 7:00 pm on Monday for an exhibition game and playing Kent State on Saturday at 5:00 pm in Youngstown in the season opener as part of the NE Ohio Coaches vs. Cancer Classic.
• CSU returns three starters and nine letterwinners from last year's squad, including sophomore Rob Edwards who was named to the preseason All-Horizon League second team.
Women's Basketball
• Cleveland State will open the 2016-17 season this weekend, traveling to Evansville for a 2:00 p.m. EST contest on Saturday, November 12.
• The Vikings return eight letterwinners from last year's squad, including four starters in Ashanti Abshaw (So., F), Khayla Livingston (Jr., G), Olivia Voskuhl (Jr., F), and Shadae Bosley (Jr., F). Abshaw was named to the Horizon League Preseason First Team, while CSU was tied for seventh in the preseason poll.
Cross Country
• CSU will return to the course this weekend, participating in the NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Friday, November 11.
• Junior Karen Barrientos earned First Team All-Horizon League honors with a fifth-place finish at the Horizon League Championship two weeks ago.
Fencing
• The men's team posted a perfect 7-0 mark at the Case Western Duals this past weekend to improve to 12-1 in team dual matches. CSU defeated Bowling Green, the host Spartans, Denison, Michigan, Oakland, Oberlin and Xavier.
• The women's team tallied a 5-2 record against the same string of opponents to move to 9-4 on the year. CSU defeated all but Michigan and Case Western on the women's side.
Men's Soccer
• Cleveland State (7-8-2, 4-3-2) saw its season come to an end with a 1-0 setback at Milwaukee in the regular-season finale this past weekend.
• The Vikings finished in a three-way tie for fifth place in the League, but lost out on the tiebreaking procedures.
• CSU dominated the first half but could not get a goal, while Panthers would knock in a rebound in the 90th minute to win the contest.
Swimming & Diving
• Cleveland State will continue action this Friday, Nov. 11, as both programs have a dual meet at Ohio State at 4:00 p.m.
• The CSU competed in a two-day dual meet at Marshall over the weekend, and suffered its first setback of the season, 232-122.
• Junior Tobie Zeller (100 breaststroke) and sophomore Molly McNamara (100 butterfly) won individual events for CSU in the meet.
Men's Tennis
• The Vikings will compete in their final fall tournament this weekend, participating in the Wake Forest Invitational Friday, November 11 through Sunday, November 13.
• The Vikings hosted their first-ever fall tournament over the weekend at the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion.
• Freshman Nico Mostardi went 5-0 to capture the Main Singles Draw title, while Colton Buffington went 4-1 to claim the backdraw singles title and Jack Santilli picked up three victories to win the singles consolation bracket.
Women's Tennis
• Cleveland State participated in its final fall tournament of the season last time out, competing at the WMU Super Challenge at Western Michigan.
• Aleksandra Golawska led the Vikings with a perfect 3-0 singles record on the weekend, while Victoria Bensimon and Princess Gbadamosi both picked up two singles wins.
Volleyball
• Cleveland State (22-4, 13-1 HL) will close out the regular season with a pair of contests this week, traveling to Green Bay on Wednesday, (Nov. 9) before returning home to host Wright State on Senior Day on Friday (Nov. 11).
• The Vikings picked up a pair of 3-0 sweeps against Oakland and Youngstown State last weekend, capturing their second straight Horizon League regular season championship. This marks the fourth time under head coach Chuck Voss that Cleveland State has been crowned Regular Season Champions.
• Cleveland State has now earned the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Horizon League Tournament along with the right to host the tournament Friday, November 18 through Sunday, November 20.
VIKING OF THE WEEK
Nico Mostardi | Freshman | Men's Tennis | Cleveland, Ohio
Mostardi posted a 5-0 record to win the main singles draw at the Viking Invitational over the weekend at the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavillion. The top-seeded player in the tournament, Mostardi won his first four matches in straight sets before claiming a 3-6, 6-3, 12-10 victory in the championship match.

Aleksandra Golawska | Jr. | Women's Tennis
Went 3-0 in singles at the WMU Super Challenge with wins vs. Indiana and Western Michigan.
Sergio Manesio | Sr. | Men's Soccer
Was named one of 10 finalists for the Senior CLASS Award.
CSU Volleyball Team
Captured its second straight HL regular season title and has won 13 straight matches.
