Vikings Fall to UIC 1-0

CHICAGO, Ill.-  The Cleveland State men's soccer team fell to University of Illinois-Chicago 1-0, on Saturday afternoon.

The Vikings (3-8-0, HL 0-2-0) defense kept themselves in the thick of the match.  The contest was tight all 90 minutes, with UIC netting the only goal at the 18:33 minute-mark.  For CSU, Sergio Manesio had two shots on goal and Zach Ellis-Hayden had one shot at the net.

UIC tallied the only point of the match when midfielder Bob Novak netted his second goal of the season inside the box.  Junior forward/midfielder Jesus Torres was credited with the assist.

In the second half, the Vikings defense kept UIC away from the net, but could not capitalize.  Both CSU and UIC had three shots attempted at the net in the contest. 

The Vikings will head back home to face #9 Akron at Krenzler Field on Wednesday (Oct. 9) at 7:30 p.m.
