CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland State dropped its final tune-up before Horizon League play begins on Saturday, falling to St. Bonaventure by a score of 2-1 at Krenzler Field on Wednesday (Sept. 21) night. The Vikings now turn their attention to the Horizon League portion of their schedule which begins on Saturday (Sept. 24) when they host Valparaiso at 7:00 p.m. at Krenzler Field.

Redshirt sophomore forward Admir Suljevic scored for the third consecutive game to tally his team-leading fourth goal, and CSU was up 1-0 just 6:50 into the game.

Unfortunately for Cleveland State, Wednesday night played out just like last Sunday's game against Robert Morris: an early Suljevic goal and two unanswered goals from the opponent to equal a rare home loss.

St. Bonaventure's Brad Vanino tied the score at 1-1 in the 42nd minute when he converted a CSU turnover into his second goal of the season. Vanino beat Toby Frohlich, the true freshman who made his first collegiate start. Frohlich handled the first 45 minutes in net for Cleveland State, spelling usual starter Brad Stuver.

Joe Kalt got the call in the second half and fared well. Strength in numbers allowed Daniel Iannacito to cross a ball from the right side to a streaking James Reed who knocked it in and gave the Bonnies a one-goal lead in the 77th minute.

Kalt, who made three saves, was dealt the loss in his collegiate debut.

Cleveland State fell to 2-5 on the year, while St. Bonaventure edged closer to the .500 mark and currently sits at 4-5.

Saturday's match with the Valparaiso Crusaders begins a stretch of three straight Horizon League games. The Vikings briefly go out of conference with a match at Pittsburgh on Oct. 5 and only have one other non-league game - a home showdown with IUPUI on Oct. 19 - on the remainder of their schedule.
