CLEVELAND, Ohio - Senior Natalie Daniels scored her 18th goal of her career in the 72nd minute to propel the Cleveland State women's soccer team over IUPUI, as they claimed a 3-2 victory Sunday afternoon at Krenzler Field. Sunday's contest also served as senior day, as the Vikings honored the seven seniors on the 2011 squad.
Along with Daniels, seniors Nancy Newcomer and Samantha Salamon recorded points on senior day, as Newcomer posted CSU's second goal and Salamon tallied the assist.
The Vikings opened the game with a goal from Sarah Zawie just 2:14 in, as she blasted a shot from the top of the box for her first goal of the season. The Jaguars responded with a goal in the 26th minute, as Megan Hock capitalized on an open shot after collecting the ball off of a rebound. IUPUI was able to take a 2-1 lead into halftime, as Sarah Colby slipped a shot past Becky Williams with just 47 seconds remaining in the first half.
CSU came out firing in the second half, as the Vikings recorded nine shots during the last 45 minutes of play. Newcomer evened the score at 2-2 in the 66th minute when she fired a shot from the top right corner of the box and beat the IUPUI keeper to the bottom left corner of the net.
