Updated Qualifier Draw | Updated Singles Draw | Updated Doubles Draw

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Cleveland State men's tennis team continued action at the ITA Midwest Regional Friday, with eight Vikings in action. Friday's play including the third round of the qualifier draw, the opening round of the main singles draw and the opening round of the doubles draw.

"I'm a little disappointed today, we came with higher goals for ourselves and didn't quite achieve them," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "Ali and Yannick were both playing some great tennis today and were definitely playing at a level that I thought they could have won both their singles and doubles matches. Everyone put forth great effort on the court today and we were definitely able to come away with some positives and see what this team will be capable of this spring."

Jorg Van Der Vloet, who advanced to the third round of the qualifier draw with two wins yesterday, dropped his match Friday morning, 6-4, 6-4 to Alex Buzzi of Michigan.

Ali Shabib and Yannick Goossens represented CSU in the main singles draw Friday, as Shabib dropped his first round match, 6-1, 6-2 to Bruno Abdelnour of Illinois and Goossens fell in his first round match, 6-4, 6-2 to Wyatt McCoy of Notre Dame. The duo also paired up for doubles action, as they fell just short to a team from DePaul, 8-6 in the first round of the doubles draw.

The Vikings had three additional duos in the doubles draw, including Nolan Marks and Ben Shklyar who dropped their first match, 8-4 to a team from Wisconsin. Also playing doubles for CSU were Jay Jones and Matt Ford, who fell to a team from Michigan State, 8-0 and Matt Kuelker and Van Der Vloet, who lost to a duo from Notre Dame, 8-2.

Jones, Shabib and Goossens will all participate in a consolation match Saturday morning. The pairings and times are yet to be determined.
