Updated Qualifier Draw 
COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Cleveland State men's tennis team concluded action on day one of the ITA Midwest Regional, with
Jorg Van Der Vloet advancing to the third round of the qualifier draw. Van Der Vloet will now play Friday (Oct. 14) morning, along with
Ali Shabib and
Yannick Goossens who will be playing in the main singles draw.
"Everyone played very well during the first round," assistant coach Jay Tee said. "They were all competing and playing some sharp tennis. During the second round the competition got a little tougher and we took some losses. Despite the losses we were still playing some good tennis, including Jorg who advanced to the next round of the qualifier draw."
Van Der Vloet defeated Tomas Stillman of Toledo, 6-2, 6-2 during his opening round match, and then earned a 7-5, 5-7, 6-2 win over UIC's James Li during the second round. Van Der Vloet will now face Alex Buzzi of Michigan at 8:00 a.m. Friday morning in the third round of the qualifier draw.
Nolan Marks, Matt Ford and Matt Kuelker also recorded victories during the opening round of the qualifier draw on Thursday before falling in their second round matches. Marks earned a 7-6 (9-7), 7-5 win over Alex Teppart of Wisconsin, Ford recorded a 2-6, 6-4, 7-5 win over Youngstown State's Max Schmerin and Kuelker earned a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Christian Roehmer of Michigan State.
The third round of the qualifier draw will begin Friday morning at 8:00 a.m., while the first round of the main singles draw will begin Friday afternoon. Doubles action is also set to begin Friday evening.
