GREENVILLE, N.C. - Kara Koch and Amy Benz combined for 25 kills and Cleveland State hit .301 as a team as the Vikings earned a 3-0 win over East Carolina on Saturday afternoon at the East Carolina Classic.
Match scores were 25-21, 25-16, 25-19.
Koch tallied 14 kills, while Benz's 11 kills came on just 24 attempts. She also had just one attack error for a .417 hitting percentage.
Lindsey Griffith also finished with 11 kills and Jackie Dabbelt with eight as the Vikings moved to 2-0 for the second straight season.
Jordan Goad handed out 39 assists with five digs and five kills, while Amy Grabiec made a match-best 20 digs and Amanda Medvetz added 11.
After a tight first set, CSU dominated the second set, hitting .457 (20-4-35) to take a commanding 2-0 lead before wrapping things up in the third.
The Vikings will have little time to rest as CSU concludes play in the East Carolina Classic with a 5:00 p.m. contest against Charlotte.
