CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The softball doubleheader between Cleveland State and Dayton, scheduled for this afternoon (Tuesday, May 4) has been cancelled. The games will not be made up.
The cancellation became necessary after Dayton incurred travel problems coming back from a weekend series in Massachusetts, resulting in most of the squad not returning until late Monday evening. After discussing the situation, both teams mutually agreed to cancel the twinbill.
"We would have liked to have played Dayton, but I understand the problems they had traveling and since neither team will be hurt by the cancellation, it made the most sense. We will hopefully play them again next season," CSU head coach Angie Nicholson said.
The Vikings will close their regular season by hosting Valparaiso for a three-game series over the weekend, playing a doubleheader on Saturday (May 8) at 1:00 p.m. and a single game on Sunday (May 9) at 12:00 noon.
