DETROIT, Mich. - Detroit placed four players in double figures and outscored Cleveland State in the second half, 35-25, to claim a 62-54 victory over Cleveland State in Horizon League action on Saturday afternoon in Calihan Hall.

The Vikings fell to 10-10 overall and 5-4 in the Horizon League, while Detroit improved to 9-11 overall and 7-2 in the league. UDM entered the day tied for first place with Green Bay in the league standings with the Phoenix hosting Valparaiso later today.

Kailey Klein and Janelle Adams scored 12 points apiece to lead the Vikings, while Klein added nine rebounds.

CSU shot just .390 (23-59) from the field, hitting just 5-of-26 (.192) from three-point.

The first half was back and forth with four ties and nine lead changes as neither team was able to grasp control of the game.

Trailing 21-19 with 4:28 left, the Vikings used a 10-3 run over the next 3:27 to assume their largest lead of the first half (29-24) when Crosley made a layup. However, Detroit's Demeisha Fambro nailed a three-pointer from the corner with eight seconds to play in the half, cutting CSU's lead to 29-27 as the teams headed to the locker room.

Two quick buckets to start the second half gave UDM a 31-29 lead, but a basket by Jessica Roque evened the contest for the 11th time on the afternoon, 31-31 with 17:47 to play.

The teams traded a pair of baskets each to make it 35-35 before UDM's Yar Shayok took over inside, scoring five points as part of an 8-0 run that gave the Titans a 43-35 lead.

However, Janelle Adams, who was receiving her first extended playing time since spraining her ankle in early January which forced her to miss five games, scored six straight points to bring the Vikings back within two at 43-41 with 11:07 left.

A Lauren Allen three-pointer stopped the run and pushed UDM's lead back to five (46-41), but Klein answered on the other end with a three-point play of her own, bringing the Vikings back within two, 46-44.

CSU would get within one (53-52) on a Garland three-pointer with 5:46 to play, but the Titans closed the game by scoring nine of the final 11 points.

Shayok led all scorers with 15 points, adding a game-high 11 rebounds.

CSU went to the line just three times, making all three, as UDM was called for just nine fouls.

The Vikings will be back in action on Thursday (Feb. 4) when CSU hosts UIC at 7:00 p.m. in the Wolstein Center.
