LARAMIE, Wyo. - Cleveland State concluded its nonconference tournament schedule with a 3-0 setback to host Wyoming in the final match of the Cowgirl Classic on Saturday night at the UniWyo Sports Complex. Match scores were 25-18, 25-19, 25-21.
The loss drops the Vikings to 1-8 this season, while Wyoming earned its first win of the season (1-8).
The Cowgirls held advantages over the Vikings in kills (49-42), hitting percentage (.396-.239) and digs (44-34) and had four fewer attack errors (15-11) than the Vikings.
Jenni Ramminger and Beth Greulich combined for 19 kills, as each hit .474 for the match. Ramminger had a team-best 10 kills and just one error in 19 attempts, while Greulich finished with nine kills and no errors in 19 attacks.
Jordan Goad totaled 37 assists, while Maggie Bonomini tallied a team-high 11 digs.
Dani Bedore had a match-best 14 kills and hit .429 for Wyoming, while Lauren Whitney added nine. Samantha Eley and Carissa Lee tied for match-high honors with 12 digs apiece.
CSU will begin defense of its Horizon League title next weekend when CSU opens league play with a pair of home matches. The Vikings will host Loyola on Friday (Sept. 19) at 7:00 p.m. before entertaining UIC on Saturday (Sept. 20) at 2:00 p.m. Both matches will be played in Woodling Gym.
