ORLANDO, Florida - Cleveland State dropped a pair of games against Yale and IPFW to open the Rebel Games on Wednesday morning. CSU lost the first game to Yale, 2-1, and the second, 7-5 to IPFW. The losses dropped Cleveland State to 5-4 on the season.

Cleveland State was held to four hits and one run in the loss to Yale.

Yale took the early lead in the first after Lauren Huddleston and Ashley Sloan scored on an Allie Canulli single. Cleveland State came knocking in the fourth, when Amanda Kern scored on a fielder's choice, but left three on with one out to finish the inning.

Both teams did not score following the fourth, and Cleveland State was held to one hit for the rest of the game.

Amanda Macenko (4-2) took the loss for the Vikings, giving up seven hits and two earned runs. Macenko struck out six in the loss.

"When you commit errors and do not hit, you will not win games," head coach Angie Nicholson said. " We need to figure out how to put our hits together and support our pitching."

The Vikings had opportunities, leaving 11 on base throughout the game. In the fourth inning Cleveland State scored one run but left three on base to end the inning.

Willard singled to start the inning and Coppus walked. CSU scored again in the fourth, when Danielle Young scored off a Whitney Willard double.

IPFW tied it up in the fifth, scoring two runs off a double by Tara Mickelson. The two teams each exchanged the lead in the eighth and ninth innings, but IPFW pulled away with two runs in the tenth.
