COLUMBUS, Ohio - Cleveland State's Kailey Klein scored a season-high 30 points, but Ohio State (No. 18/17) had three players in double figures and claimed a 68-54 victory over the Vikings in nonconference action at Nationwide Arena on Monday night.

CSU fell to 4-5 overall, while the Buckeyes improved to 8-2.

Klein hit 10-of-23 from the field, including a pair of three-pointers and went 8-for-8 from the free throw line. She added six rebounds.

Jessica Roque finished with six points and Dominique Butler seven rebounds.

"This is the kind of game that will help us as we prepare for league play," head coach Kate Peterson Abiad said. "This is the third ranked team that we have played over our last 10 games (Stanford and Arizona State) and these kind of games will help us as we work toward our goal of winning the Horizon League and playing in the NCAA Tournament.

The Buckeyes scored the first seven points of the game, racing out to a 10-2 lead just four minutes into the contest as Ashlee Trebilcock scored five of OSU's points.

An 11-5 run by the Vikings closed CSU's deficit to two points (15-13) midway through the half on a Klein jumper. A pair of Klein free throws began the run and Jessica Roque followed with a layup and a three-pointer.

However, OSU closed the final 10 minutes of the half on a 23-5 run, taking a 20 point advantage (38-18) into the locker room.

OSU came out of the half and went on an 11-2 run to open the second half, keyed by eight points from Lavender, to assume a 49-20 lead with 15:58 to play.

But the Vikings refused to give in, outscoring the Buckeyes, 34-19 over the final 16 minutes of the game. CSU outscored OSU, 36-30 in the second half.

Lavender finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Trebilcock and Brittany Johnson had 12 points each.

The Vikings shot .317 (19-60) from the floor, while OSU hit .467 (28-60) and had a 40-36 rebounding edge.

The Vikings will be back in action on Friday (Dec. 19) when CSU travels to Ohio for a 7:00 p.m. contest.
