Vikings Down IPFW, 6-1
Vikings Win First Dual Match of Season
FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Cleveland State won the doubles point and five of six singles matches to defeat IPFW 6-1 on Friday morning. CSU is 1-0 to begin the spring season.
After sweeping the doubles competition, CSU clinched the win by the fourth singles match, after freshman Chris Klepatz (4-4) defeated Francisco Sigaud 5-7, 6-1, 7-6 at No. 4 singles. Freshman Robert Fox defeated Justin Collins 6-3, 6-1 at No. 5 singles, while senior Brad Groleski won 6-2, 6-3 over Diego Artara at No. 6 singles to wrap up CSU's convincing win.
"This is a good start to the season," assistant coach Mark Barry said. "Now we can go to Michigan State with confidence from this match under our belt."
The Vikings travel to East Lansing, Mich. to face Michigan State on Jan. 19 at 6:00 p.m.
