INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Sophomore Alexis Korovich recorded her second straight double-double and sixth of the season to help lift Cleveland State to a 30-23, 27-30, 30-27, 30-24 victory over Butler in Horizon League action Saturday afternoon at Hinkle Fieldhouse.

Korovich finished with 13 kills and a match-best 15 digs for the Vikings.

"Lex was big for us tonight," CSU head coach Chuck Voss said. "She played with a lot of confidence and it was really encouraging to see her hit some great shots for us."

CSU, which defeated Butler for the fourth straight time, improved to 8-5 overall and 1-1 in league play, while Butler fell to 6-6 overall and 1-1 in the Horizon League.

In the opener, CSU used an 8-2 run to extend a one point lead (9-8) to 17-10 and never looked back. The Bulldogs rebounded to hit .327 (23-7-49) to claim game two and knot the match at 1-1.

The Bulldogs used that momentum to take a 24-20 lead in game three, but CSU ended the game on a 10-3 run, highlighted by three Viking kills and blocks and two service aces.

"Game three was pivotal and I think it was the turning point of the match," Voss said. "We managed to find a way down the stretch, which we have been doing that a lot this season."

In game four, CSU limited Butler to a -.053 (9-11-38) hitting percentage to earn the win.

Sophomore Beth Greulich (12) and junior Jenni Ramminger (10) finished with double-digit kills, while freshman Meghan Mental added a career-best 10 digs. Senior Mel Snyder and sophomore Natalie Bauer combined for 46 assists, with Bauer totaling a career-high 15.

Michelle DeGeeter led the Bulldogs with 17 kills and 11 digs.

CSU will return to action on Friday (Sept. 21) with a 7:00 pm league match at Youngstown State. It will be the lone match of the week for the Vikings.
