TOLEDO, OH - Sophomore Liz Fazio and junior Jenni Ramminger recorded 11 kills each to lift Cleveland State to a 30-23, 30-27, 30-24 sweep of Bradley in the opening match of the Toledo Invitational on Friday morning at John F. Savage Hall.
"I thought we played really well at times today, but especially during crunch time," CSU head coach Chuck Voss said. "Our blocking, defense and coverage were all outstanding and carried us throughout the match."
The Viking defense held the Braves to a .082 hitting percentage (39-27-146), while claiming advantages in kills (52-39) and digs (62-54).
Sophomore Alexis Korovich notched a double double with 10 kills and 14 digs, while junior Jordan Bateman recorded a match-best 24 digs. Senior Mel Snyder finished with 38 assists and chipped in three service aces, which moved her into a tie for 10th place on the all-time list at CSU (106).
Nikki Pierzchala led Bradley with 10 kills and eight digs.
The Vikings will return to the court at 5:00 pm Friday evening for a match with IUPUI.
