Final Stats

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - Cleveland State's nine-match winning streak came to a screeching halt on Saturday afternoon at UW-Milwaukee, as the Panthers posted a 30-23, 30-14, 30-24 win to become the first team to sweep the Vikings this season. With its first loss in nearly a month, CSU falls to 11-3 overall and 1-1 in the Horizon League, while UWM improves to 8-4, 2-0.

The Panthers were hitting on all cylinders offensively, posting a .333 hitting percentage (54-14-120) while limiting the Vikings to just a .152 (37-20-112) mark as CSU dropped to 1-14 all-time in Milwaukee.

"Milwaukee is a very, very good team and runs one of the quickest offenses we've seen all year," CSU head coach Chuck Voss said. "I liked our aggressiveness today, but we just weren't in system enough to beat a team of their caliber."

Freshman Liz Fazio paced the Vikings with 12 kills and six digs, while classmate Alexis Korovich tallied 10 kills and six digs. Junior Mel Snyder added 28 assists and 11 digs for her third double-double.

Melissa David hit .429 with 15 kills to lead UWM, while Cheryl Hagemann posted 13 kills and nine digs.

Cleveland State returns home next weekend to host a pair of Horizon League matches. The Vikings will take on Loyola on Friday (Sept. 29) at 7:00 p.m., followed by a 4:00 p.m. contest against UIC the next afternoon. Call (216) 687-4848 for ticket information.
