CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State Vikings waited almost two years to have the opportunity to play on Krenzler Field, but in their first game back since Oct. 23, 2003, the Vikings drop a 5-3 contest to Marshall on Sunday.

CSU got off to an early start on the first of two goals by sophomore Steve Trapp in the 17th minute of play. Trapp took a feed on the left side from Nenad Stojkovic and put it past the Thundering Herd goalkeeper. The Vikings would hold on to the lead until Marshall put the equalizing goal past Chris Black in the 31st minute.

"For the first 25 minutes we controlled the game and kept the ball in their half of the field," head coach Pete Curtis said. "However, once we let up the equalizing goal we just dropped back and gave the other team confidence."

Marshall regained the lead in the 52nd minute of the game, but Cleveland State would tie it at two, on a goal by Mark Zambra who bounced the shot past the keeper from 15-yards out. The goal was the first of Zambra's career.

The Vikings then let up three straight Marshall goals before Trapp netted his second during the 83rd minute.

Trapp is the first Viking to score two goals in a game since Spencer Lappin did so against Marshall on Sept. 18, 2004.

CSU had its chances in the game as Stojkovic missed two penalty shots in the game, one wide right and the second was stopped by Marshall goalkeeper Greg Walter.

"You're not going to see a player of Nenad's quality do that very often," Curtis said. "It is rare to miss one, but two is a once in a lifetime experience."

The Vikings started sophomore Chris Black in goal, his first start of the season. Black made two saves in the game, before giving way to freshman Anthony DeMarco, who made one save as he finished up the game.

Cleveland State will be back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 14 as they travel to Robert Morris. Kick-off is set for 4:00 p.m.
