Box Score
CLEVELAND - Sometimes averages don't mean a thing.
Using a pair of free throws by senior Tahric Gosley (Philadelphia, Pa./Simon Gratz) with 3.7 seconds remaining, Cleveland State upended visiting Wright State 55-52 at Goodman Arena Saturday night in a Horizon League contest.
With CSU leading 53-52, Gosley picked off the carom of an errant Seth Doliboa 3-pt. attempt and was fouled by Joe Bills. The forward, who entered the game shooting just 49.2 percent from the line, sank his first attempt and then canned the second after a WSU timeout.
Gosley then knocked the inbound pass away from Doliboa, the league's top scorer, to preserve the Viking victory.
Modibo Niakate (Paris, France/Hutchinson C.C.), one of CSU's best free throw shooters at 83.3 percent, missed the first of a 1-and-1 with 16 seconds remaining. Niakate led the Vikings in scoring with 14 points while Gosley chipped in 11.
The Vikes led at the half 25-21.
Doliboa took game-scoring honors with 23 points. The Raiders also got 10 points from Vernard Hollins.
Although the Vikes were outrebounded 34-32, senior Andre' Williams (Clayton, N.J./Bishop Eustace) pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds. Doliboa led the Raiders with 10.
The Vikings also helped themselves by committing just 12 turnovers, a season low, while forcing 14 by WSU.
