Men's Basketball Nips Loyola, 73-70

CLEVELAND (AP) - Theo Dixon hit a 3-pointer with one second left as Cleveland State came from 10 points back in the second half to beat Loyola of Chicago 73-70 Thursday night in the Midwestern Collegiate Conference opener for both teams.

Dixon finished with 21 points for Cleveland State (8-6), which also got 18 points from Jamaal Harris and 16 from Doc Taylor.

Loyola (4-9) was led by David Bailey's 26 points.

Cleveland State, which trailed 37-31 at halftime and 48-38 with 13:56 left, went on a 16-4 run to lead 54-52 with 7:46 left as Andre Williams hit a jumper, a layup and two free throws.

The lead changed four times before Bailey put Loyola ahead for the last time with a layup that made it 66-65 with 1:08 left. Jerrell Parker's two free throws pushed the lead to 68-65 with 30 seconds left.

After Dixon hit a layup and Bailey made two free throws, Harris got a 3-pointer for Cleveland State to tie the game with 11 seconds left and set the stage for Dixon's game-winning shot.
