INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Thomas Jackson had 18 points and was 10-of-11 from the free throw line as Butler defeated Cleveland State 65-52 Thursday night.

Butler (9-5, 1-1 Midwest Collegiate Conference) emerged with the win despite shooting only 34 percent for the game. The Bulldogs trailed for the entire first half and made only 26 percent of their shots in that period.

Cleveland State (10-7, 2-1), shot 42 percent for the game, and was 50 percent in the first half. Cleveland State led 31-27 at the half.

Butler gained its first lead of the game after Brandon Miller made a 3-pointer with 14:11 remaining, bring the score to 42-40. The lead changed hands once again in the next four minutes.

But Butler pulled ahead to stay on a free throw by Darnell Archey, making it 48-47 with 10:07 left.

Three other Bulldogs were in double digits. Miller had 14 points for Butler, while LaVall Jordan added 12 and Rylan Hainje had 10.

Theo Dixon had 18 points for Cleveland State and Jamaal Harris added 15.
