Stephanie Taylor, a 2003 Cleveland State graduate, returns toCSU for her sixth season as an assistant coach for former teammateAngie Nicholson. Taylor will primarily work with hitters andcatchers while also assisting with recruiting.
During her first five seasons on the Viking coaching staff,Taylor has helped lead CSU to 156 victories, including a 44-wincampaign in 2010. She has also guided the Vikings to three trips tothe Horizon League Championship title game, with the first leaguecrown in program history coming in 2009.
Prior to CSU, Taylor served as a graduate assistant at CentralMichigan University during the 2003-04 season, where she helped theChippewas to a 32-19 record, the regular season Mid-AmericanConference Championship and a berth in the NCAA Regional.
A two-time second team all-conference selection, Taylor was alsoa four-year letterwinner, earning the 2003 Varsity "C" Club awardwinner as the Most Outstanding Player on the team.
Taylor was also recognized for her scholastic achievements,receiving the Faculty Athletic Representative's Special AcademicAchievement Award in 2003 while also being named to the VerizonAcademic All-District squad.
A .344 hitter with 18 RBI as a sophomore (52-151), Taylor hits.283 as a junior (34-120), scoring 10 runs and driving home 19. Sheclosed her career in grand fashion, winning the Horizon Leaguebatting title by going 52-for-157 (.331) with a team-high 24 RBIand 19 walks as a senior.
Taylor graduated as CSU's career leader in doubles (37), thirdin batting average (.319), and fourth in hits (163).
She completed her coursework for a master's degree in sportmanagement from Cleveland State in May, 2008.
