Kate Patton is in her fifth season as an assistant cross countrycoach at Cleveland State.
Patton was an assistant coach at St. Joseph Academy H.S. duringthe 2007 season, coaching the team to an 11th place finish at theOHSAA State Cross Country Meet. While at St. Joseph’s, sheprovided weekly nutrition presentations with topics including mealtiming, calcium, iron and hydration. She also counseled athletes onappropriate pre-and post-run meals and hydration, while alsoanalyzing runners three day meal records to assess if they weremeeting the estimated nutrition needs.
A 2006 graduate of the University of Dayton, Patton earneda Bachelor’s of Science in Dietetics. She is currentlycompleting coursework toward a Master’s of Education inExercise Science at CSU.
In addition, Patton is serving as a clinical dietitian at theCleveland Clinic and is a member of the Left Ventricular AssistDevice team. She completed a dietetic internship at the Clinic in2006-07, working through a program that was comprised of 26 weeksof clinical, nine weeks of food service, four weeks of communityand four weeks of sales and marketing.
Patton is a member of the American Dietetic Association, theCleveland Dietetic Association and the Cleveland West Road RunnersClub. A two-time qualifier and participant in the Boston Marathon,Patton has also competed in the Columbus and Georgia Marathons.
