Isaac Atencio

Isaac Atencio enters his second season as an assistant coach for the Cleveland State lacrosse team.

In his first season with the Vikings, he helped the program go 4-10 overall and 2-5 in their inaugural NEC season. The Green and White earned their first-ever NEC win in their opener at Wagner on March 15 by a score of 14-8. He aided in three individual season records: Justin Dalum for saves (176) and Robbie Stewart for ground balls (96), and faceoff wins (174).

A strong classroom effort by Cleveland State saw 42 players receive NEC Academic Honor Roll recognition and 21 get named to the NEC Commissioner's Honor Roll. For the fourth straight year, the Vikings were named Team Academic Award by the USILA, along with Grayson Dague, Lane Miller, and Reggie Regala earning Scholar All-American honors.

Prior to Cleveland State, Atencio spent one season as an assistant coach at Iona University, where he helped prepare the program for their inaugural season in 2025.

Atencio was part of the inaugural recruiting class at Cleveland State, suiting up for the team from 2017-20. He was a three-year captain, logging 32 starts on defense. Atencio ranked second all-time in program history in caused turnovers, finishing with 37 for his career. He recorded 70 career ground balls.

Atencio transferred to Colorado College for his final year of eligibility, where he earned First Team All-Conference and All-Region honors. Upon graduating, he was elevated to an assistant coach role. Atencio helped the team to two NCAA Division III Tournament appearances after winning back-to-back conference titles.

Atencio graduated with his bachelor's degree in social studies from CSU in 2020.
