CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State men's tennis team closed out its home slate Sunday, picking up a 6-1 victory over IU Indy.
The Vikings picked up the early doubles point, as
Lincoln Battle/
Carl Gedlitschka earned a 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles and
Cole Chappell/
Nico Jamison posted a 6-4 win at the No. 3 spot.
Gedlitschka and Battle then added a pair of points at the top two spots in the singles lineup, as Gedlitschka earned a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles and Battle earned a 1-6, 6-4, 6-3 win at the No. 1 spot.
Cleveland State's clinching point then came from Chappell at No. 5 singles, as he earned a 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 win.
In addition,
Devin Boyer (4-6, 7-5, 6-3) and Jamison (6-3, 6-7(4), 6-3) added another two singles wins for the Vikings to put the final score at 6-1 CSU.
Battle and Gedlitschka were playing as the No. 67 ranked doubles team Sunday, while Battle remained perfect in #HLTennis singles matches with his three-set come-from-behind victory.
The Vikings will close out regular season play next weekend, traveling to Youngstown State on Friday.
