CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State men's tennis team returned home to continue Horizon League play Friday, dropping a 5-2 contest against Youngstown State.
Cleveland State opened the match by picking up the doubles point, earning wins from
Lincoln Battle/
Carl Gedlitschka at No. 1 doubles (6-3) and
Nico Jamison/
Cole Chappell at the No. 3 spot (6-4).
YSU was able to even the score to begin singles with a win at the No. 6 spot, before Battle posted a 6-4, 6-4 victory at the top of the lineup to put the Vikings up 2-1. Friday's win kept Battle perfect in #HLTennis play this season, improving to 3-0 at No. 1 singles.
The Penguins then rattled off four straight wins on the remaining singles courts to clinch the 5-2 victory.
Cleveland State will have the next week off from competition, returning to the courts on Saturday, April 11 when the Vikings host Northern Kentucky.
