PLANO, Texas – The Cleveland State men's tennis team closed out its annual spring break trip with a win Tuesday, picking up a 7-0 sweep over Weatherford. With the win, the Vikings are now 10-8 on the year.
This marked the third 7-0 sweep of the season for Cleveland State.
"This was a great team effort – to find and get in a quality match after another school canceled on us at the last moment," head coach
Brian Etzkin said. "Thank you to Collins College for hosting and facilitating and thank you to Weatherford for a great competitive match. We are excited after this spring break trip, and ready to start our league slate when we return to the courts."
The Vikings were able to pick up straight set wins in five of the six singles matches, while
Maxime Aremon earned a three-set win at the No. 5 spot – 7-5, 4-6, 1-0(6).
Cleveland State's clinching point on the day came from
Nico Jamison at No. 3 singles, as he picked up a 6-3, 7-5 victory.
The Vikings will be off from competition until next week now, opening Horizon League play on the road at Northern Kentucky (3/20) and IU Indy (3/21).
