Cleveland State Men’s Tennis Falls At Buffalo, 4-3

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Cleveland State men's tennis team was back in action Sunday, coming up short in a 4-3 decision at Buffalo.

"This was a really good college match, just like everyt ime we match up against Buffalo," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "Buffalo sustained a really good effort by us, and we just weren't able to close it out today. This was our best doubles play of the season, and we are really close to jumping a level, and we will use this as motivation as we move forward this season."

The Vikings were able to pick up the early doubles point against the Bulls, with Maxime Aremon/Tristan Stine earning a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles and Nico Jamison/Cole Chappell notching a 6-1 win at the No. 3 spot.

Cleveland State's two singles wins on the day came from Chappell and Carl Gedlitschka.

Chappell earned a 7-6(1), 6-1 victory at No. 5 singles, while Gedlitschka posted a 6-4, 7-5 win at No. 4 singles. Chappell and Gedlitschka both went 2-0 on the weekend, while Gedlitschka improved to a team-best 13-6 overall this season in singles play.

The Vikings will be back in action Saturday, traveling to Ball State for a 12:00 p.m. contest.
