Cleveland State Women’s Tennis Takes On West Virginia & Temple

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's tennis team will be back in action with a pair of matches this weekend, traveling to West Virginia, while also facing Temple in a neutral site match.

Match #3 | at West Virginia | Saturday, January 31 | 3:00 p.m.
Match #4 | vs. Temple {at WVU} | Sunday, February 1 | 9:00 a.m.

This weekend's contests will be part of a six-match roadswing for the Vikings to begin the 2026 spring season, as Cleveland State won't play at home until the middle of February.

The Vikings are coming off a hard-fought 4-3 loss at Cincinnati last time out, with freshmen Leah Geisz and Laura Tapia both picking up singles wins. In addition, the Vikings also picked up the doubles point against the Bearcats, marking the first doubles point of the season for the Vikings.

Part of Cleveland State's doubles point came from a win at the top of the lineup with Ella Franz and Melliz Petkova Mustafa, with Franz picking up her 79th career doubles win – ranking her second on the CSU Individual Doubles Wins List.

After picking up a three-set win against Cincinnati last time out, Geisz remains perfect on the spring season, and currently has a team-best seven singles wins on the year.

Looking Ahead…
The Vikings will host their home opener on Friday, February 13, welcoming Toledo to the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion. This will be the first of nine home contests for Cleveland State this spring.
