CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State men's tennis team will continue its spring slate with a pair of matches this weekend, traveling to DePaul and Northwestern.

Match #4 | Friday, January 23 | at DePaul | 2:00 p.m. (est)
Match #5 | Saturday, January 24 | at Northwestern | 6:30 p.m. (est)

Last Time Out…
The Vikings opened the spring slate going 2-1 over the first week of play, including wins over Toledo and Edinboro at the MMTP.

Vikings At The MMTP
Monday's wins over Toledo and Edinboro improved Cleveland State 31-5 when playing at home over the last four seasons. This also marked the first two matches of a 12-match home slate for the Vikings, with Cleveland State returning to the MMTP at the end of January.

In The Record Book
After picking up a pair of wins against Toledo and Edinboro to begin the spring season, senior Carl Gedlitschka moved into sole possession of 10th place on the CSU Singles Wins List, currently owning 75 career wins. As one of 12 Vikings all-time with 70+ wins, Gedlitschka now needs six more wins to move into ninth place on the list.

50 Win Milestones
With their wins over the opening weekend of the spring season, Lincoln Battle and Nico Jamison both eclipsed the 50-win mark for their careers, Battle sitting at 51 and Jamison ending right on the number. Battle and Jamison join a group of five current Vikings to reach the milestone, joining Carl Gedlitschka, Devin Boyer and Cole Chappell.

Battle & Gedlitschka Named #HLTennis Doubles Team of the Week
After going 1-1 at No. 1 doubles to begin the spring season, Lincoln Battle and Carl Gedlitschka were named the Horizon League Doubles Team of the Week. Battle and Gedlitschka picked up a 6-4 win at the top of the lineup against Toledo, improving to a team-best 7-5 on the year.

#HLTennis Preseason Poll
Earlier this month the Vikings were selected to finish first in the Horizon League North Division, marking the fourth straight year that Cleveland State has been tabbed the North Division favorite. The Vikings picked up four first place votes and 16 points in the preseason poll.

Head Coach Brian Etzkin
The Vikings will be under the direction of 24-year head coach Brian Etzkin, who enters the 2026 spring campaign as the all-time winningest coach in program history with 346 wins.
