CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State men's tennis team will open the 2026 spring campaign with a trio of matches this weekend, traveling to Penn State and hosting Toledo and Edinboro.

This weekend's trio of matches will be the first of 24 scheduled matches for the Vikings this spring. Monday's matches against Toledo and Edinboro will also mark the first of three doubleheaders for the Vikings this season.
Cleveland State At The MMTP
Monday's doubleheader will mark the first two contests of a 12-match home slate for the Vikings at the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion. Over the last three seasons, the Vikings have posted a 29-5 record when playing at home, including double-digit wins during the 2023-24 (11) and 2022-23 (10) campaigns.

Following the 2025 fall season, senior
Carl Gedlitschka moved into a tie for 10
th place on the CSU Singles Wins List, entering the spring campaign with 73 career victories. Gedlitschka is one of 12 Vikings all-time with 70+ wins, while he needs seven more wins to move into ninth place on the list.

Tristan Stine all have seven singles wins. In doubles, Battle and Gedlitschka own a team-best 6-4 record.

Earlier this month the Vikings were selected to finish first in the Horizon League North Division, marking the fourth straight year that Cleveland State has been tabbed the North Division favorite. The Vikings picked up four first place votes and 16 points in the preseason poll.
