INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Cleveland State women's tennis team extended its current win streak to seven straight matches Sunday, picking up a 6-1 victory at IU Indy. With the win, the Vikings are now 11-9 on the year and 5-0 in Horizon League play.
Cleveland State picked up the early doubles point, with
Oihane Vicario/
Sima Heren earning a 6-0 win at the top of the lineup, while
Jenna Redmile/
Filippa Frogner posted a 6-1 win at No. 3 doubles.
Although IU Indy was able to pick up a point at No. 5 singles, the Vikings responded with wins at No. 1 from Vicario (6-0, 6-2) and No. 6 from
Melliz Petkova Mustafa (6-3, 6-2), while Heren clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-2 win at the No. 2 spot.
Cleveland State then added wins at No. 3 singles from
Tereze Vevere (7-6(4), 6-2) and No. 4 singles from
Ella Franz (6-3, 6-4).
The Vikings will close out regular season play next weekend, hosting Oakland on Saturday, April 19.
