HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Cleveland State women's tennis team remained perfect in Horizon League play Saturday, picking up a 6-1 win at Northern Kentucky. The win puts the Vikings at 10-9 overall this season and 4-0 in #HLTennis play.
Cleveland State picked up the early doubles point after getting wins at the top two spots from
Oihane Vicario/
Sima Heren (6-0) and
Ella Franz/
Tereze Vevere (6-2).
With their win at No. 2 doubles, Franz and Vevere are now in sole possession of the top spot on the CSU Doubles Wins List, owning 64 career wins as a tandem.
Franz then quickly gave the Vikings a 2-0 lead with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles, while
Jenna Redmile put the Vikings up 3-0 with a 6-3, 6-0 victory at the No. 5 spot.
Cleveland State's clinching point came from Heren at No. 2 singles, as she picked up a 6-0, 6-2 victory.
The Vikings also got wins from Vevere at No. 3 singles (6-3, 7-5) and
Filippa Frogner at No. 6 singles (6-3, 3-6, 1-0(0)).
Cleveland State's regular season finale will take place in the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion next weekend, hosting Oakland on Saturday, April 19.
