CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State men's tennis team continued its opening weekend of Horizon League play Sunday, picking up a 7-0 victory over IU Indy, improving to 2-0 in #HLTennis matches.
The Vikings were once again able to pick up the early doubles point, earning wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to gain the 1-0 advantage.
Devin Boyer and
Lincoln Battle posted a 6-4 win at the top of the lineup, while
Maxime Aremon and
Nico Jamison earned a 6-3 win at the No. 3 spot.
Boyer extended Cleveland State's lead to 2-0 with a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles then, before
Cole Chappell put the Vikings up 3-0 with a 6-4, 6-3 win at the No. 3 spot.
Cleveland State's clinching point came from Battle at the top of the lineup, as he earned a 6-2, 7-6(3) win to keep the Vikings perfect in Horizon League play this spring.
The Vikings then added points at the No. 6, No. 2 and No. 4 spots, with Aremon (4-6, 6-4, 1-0(4)),
Carl Gedlitschka (5-7, 6-2, 6-3) and Jamison (6-7(6), 6-2, 1-0(5)) picking up wins.
Cleveland State will hit the road for a single match next weekend, traveling to Chicago State on Sunday, March 30.
