CHICAGO, Ill. – The Cleveland State men's tennis team closed out its weekend roadtrip Sunday, dropping a 4-3 contest at UIC.
"It was another epic battle between two very even teams, and you can hate the result but love the effort and that definitely applies today. We had some good bounce-back wins from Lincoln and Carl today, while Cole continues his solid tennis that he has been playing. We are looking forward to having another weekend at the MMTP coming up!" head coach
Brian Etzkin said.
Cleveland State's three points on the day came during singles play, with
Lincoln Battle,
Carl Gedlitschka and
Cole Chappell all picking up wins.
Battle earned a 6-4, 6-7(4), 6-2 win at the top of the lineup, while Gedlitschka posted a 3-6, 7-6(5), 6-4 win at the No. 3 spot and Chappell notched a 6-3, 6-3 straight-set win at No. 6 singles.
The Vikings will return home for a pair of matches next weekend, hosting DePaul on Friday, February 28 and Buffalo on Sunday, March 2.
