INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Cleveland State moved to third with 355.5 points with one day remaining at the Horizon League Championships. Oakland leads the way with 545 points, and Milwaukee is second with 453 points.
Giovanna Cappabianca placed second in the 400-yard IM, improving her second-fastest time in CSU history to 4:20.26. This is her second podium finish in the championships.
In the 100-yard breaststroke,
Ella Ciez came in fourth after clocking a 1:03.81, the sixth fastest time in program history.
Kellsie Krisch took the seventh spot with a time of 1:04.72.
Grace Chelf took fourth in the 100-yard backstroke after registering the fourth-fastest time, 55.59. Butcher was a spot back with the seventh-fastest time of 55.75.
Cleveland State won the B-finals of the 200-yard freestyle with
Ana Sofia Sousa (1:51.34) and
Alaina Brown (56.98) in the 100-yard backstroke.
The Vikings had B-final runner-up finishes by
Isabella Caraballo in the 400-yard IM (4:32.16) and
Audrey Butcher in the 100-yard butterfly with the sixth-fastest time in school history (55.86)
Cleveland State capped off the evening with a third-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay as Butcher, Ciez, Cappabianca, and Chelf finished in 3:45.94
The championships conclude tomorrow with the 1650 freestyle, 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly, women's 3m diving, and 400 freestyle relay.
