CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland State University unveiled the new Esports Lab on Tuesday afternoon in Fenn Hall, marking a significant milestone for the program.

After spending the first two years off campus at the Cavs Legion Lair, the program moved into a dedicated space in Fenn Hall, which is part of the Washkewicz College of Engineering on the Cleveland State campus.

The facility was made possible through collaborations with campus partners, and gives the team an on-campus presence within the Viking community. The support of Dr. Susan Carver and Dr. Richard Schoephoerster was instrumental in securing the space and allocating the necessary resources to get this project done, while the dedicated staff from FAST and IS&T worked tirelessly to ready the lab before the student-athletes returned in August.

"We are immensely grateful for the opportunity to create this new chapter for Cleveland State Esports," said Director of Esports, PJ Farrell. "Our players are thrilled to finally have a space to call their own, and this is just the beginning. With this foundation in place, we are determined to build one of the premier collegiate esports programs in the country."

The new Esports Lab will continue to strenghten the strong partnership with the Washkewicz College of Engineering, the school in which nearly nearly half of the esports student-athletes are enrolled. The space also gives CSU new opportunities to host major events on campus to foster relationships in the gaming world such as; the Esports Ohio High School playoffs, collegiate tournaments, and monthly Smash Ultimate competitions.

Cleveland State competes in the GLEC and NACE Premier Conferences for games including Rocket League, League of Legends, Valorant, and Overwatch.
