CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State men's tennis team picked up a pair of wins Sunday, posting a 6-1 victories over Buffalo and Findlay. With the wins, the Vikings are now 8-3 overall this year.

In the first match of the day, the Vikings were able to get the doubles point by picking up a 6-2 win at the No. 2 spot from JuandeDios Abboud/Carl Gedlitschka and a 6-3 win at the No. 3 spot from Devin Boyer/Lincoln Battle.

The Vikings then added a pair of quick wins from Nico Jamison at No. 5 singles (6-4, 6-0) and Mikael Erler and No. 2 singles (6-2, 6-2), before Battle clinched the match for the Vikings with a 6-2, 6-4 win at the top of the singles lineup.

Cleveland State added another pair of singles wins from Gedlitschka at the No. 4 spot (6-4, 4-6, 1-0(6)) and Boyer at the No. 6 spot (7-6(1), 7-6(4)), putting the final match score at 6-1 Vikings.

The Vikings carried their momentum into the second match then, as Cleveland State once again got out to the early 1-0 lead following doubles play. The Vikings swept all three doubles matches, with Abboud/Gedlitschka picking up a 6-2 win at the top of the lineup, Battle/Boyer earning a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles and Kade Mindry/Austin Staiger posting a 6-4 win at the No. 3 spot.

Cole Chappell gave the Vikings a 2-0 lead to start singles play then, as he posted a 6-2, 6-1 win at the No. 2 spot. Ty Rothchild quickly followed with a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles, giving Cleveland State a 3-0 lead.

Although Findlay was able to pick up a win at the top of the lineup, Alan Matyjas clinched the match for the Vikings with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 win at the No. 5 spot.

Cleveland State also got wins from Abboud at No. 4 singles (6-3, 6-7(7), 6-1) and Andrew Zimcosky at the No. 3 spot (6-4, 4-6, 6-2) against Findlay.

The Vikings will be back in action on Saturday, March 2, traveling to Purdue for a 12:00 p.m. contest.
