Nester Three-Peats, Cleveland State Men's Swimming & Diving Remain in Third at #HLSD Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Vikings remain in third with one day left at the 2024 Horizon League Championships. Cleveland State picked up its first individual champion of the year and now have 368 team points.

Jackson Nester put on a show as the junior won his third straight 400-yard IM championship. In prelims, Nester put up a program-record time of 3:47.35, earning the top seed in finals. In the finals, Nester clocked a 3:47.48, good for the second-fastest in school history. He now owns the top five spots in the record book. In the B-final, Reno James clocked a 4:02.80 to come in 16th.

In the first event of the evening, the 100-yard butterfly, Daniel Lyngaas (48.74) came in eighth and Thomas Lundin (49.04) in 12th.

Daniel Lyngaas finished as the runner-up in the 200-yard freestyle after putting up the fifth-fastest time in program history, 1:37.31. Connor Green came in fourth with a time of 1:38.37 and Quinn DeGraaf was 13th with a time of 1:41.96.

Tyler Schultze registered the tenth-fastest time in program history en route to a fifth-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 54.08. Blake Fry won the B-final with a time of 56.20 and Aidan Florio was 16th with a 57.09.

Paddy Johnston was the runner-up in the 100-yard backstroke after being out-touched by .09. Johnston put up a time of 47.89. Dogukan Tombul came in seventh with a time of 48.84. Kenny Thomas took the 11th slot with a time of 49.46 and Josh Merchbaker in 15th with a 50.76.

The Green and White ended the night with a third-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay as Paddy Johnston, Tyler Schultze, Daniel Lyngaas, and Kenny Thomas clocked a 3:15.65.
