Cleveland State Men's Tennis Fall At Ball State, 5-2

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Cleveland State men's tennis team dropped just its second match of the spring campaign Saturday, falling at Ball State in a 5-2 match.

"We ran out of magic today, but still gave a good effort up and down the lineup," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "We handled a tough schedule over the last two weeks on the road and came away with three 4-3 wins out of four matches. I'm proud of the way the guys fought throughout this stretch. We had much better doubles play today after setting some new expectations last night, and Kade capped off a great weekend with another singles win today. The future is bright and we will be happy to be at home next weekend!"

The Vikings were able to pick up the doubles point on the day, earning wins at the top two spots. At the top of the doubles lineup Carl Gedlitschka and JuandeDios Abboud earned a 6-2 win, while Kade Mindry and Nico Jamison posted a 7-5 victory at the No. 2 spot.

With their win at No. 1 doubles, Gedlitschka and Abboud notched their team-leading 10th doubles win of the season.

In addition to the doubles point, the Vikings also got a win from Mindry at No. 2 singles, as he posted a 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 three-set victory against Ball State.

The Vikings will be back in action next weekend, hosting a trio of matches to close out the month of February, beginning with a 10:00 a.m. contest against UIC on Friday, February 16.
